level II, etc.

We had our Level II u/s and fetal echo yesterday. Since Matt couldn't come, both of our moms went with me. It was great. They looked at the babies heart in such detail for about an hour. I had a tech and the doctor BOTH scan me. The tech, a guy, was the most painful scanner EVER. He pushed way too hard. ouch. I felt like such a wimp. But we REALLY got to see that little heart beating away like mad. And everything looked GREAT, said the cardiologist, so that is great.

Then we went for the Level II (where I had THREE more people scan me. They were learning the new machines they had just gotten and there were residents there. I have never had so many people in my room before). It was AWESOME. Really, my mom and MIL were in awe (neither have ever seen an u/s before). Everything looked great on the baby, measuring withing 2-3 days of my due date all around. She said the head was small, a good thing. It was funny, both the echo tech and the level II tech kept calling the baby "he" even though they both said they hadn't seen anything to suggest gender, they just felt like calling our baby he. And we didn't see anything either. And believe me, even though I don't want to know, it was hard not to look. At one point the baby had its feet over his/her head and both of our moms were looking SO hard. They both REALLY wanted to know. Of course I have pictures. They actually printed me out TEN pictures. Now we have a total of 23 pictures of our unborn baby.

Cutie profile--When Matt's mom saw this, she said oh my gosh, that is a Muellenberg. She said the baby has Matt's profile and nose. Which I really don't agree with. I mean, I don't think the baby looks like anyone in particular, but Matt has a REALLY distinct nose... and I don't see that in this profile.

Then she did some 4d, which I totally DID not expect. And honestly, when I have seen other 4d shots I think they look sort of scary and alien. But when the baby popped up on the screen in 4d, I bawled. It just made everything so real. You could really see all the features. The shot she printed wasn't the best one, he looks scary, but there was some great ones in the live video.

It was a very nice day. We went shopping a bit, encountered a very rude sales clerk at Motherhood and went to a fabulous lunch. Got home and spent the rest of the day just lounging about, except for a short walk I took with Matt.
